All applicants to the preschool need to begin the admissions process one academic year prior to entry.
Applications are accepted for children who will be ages 18 months – 5 years by the time they enter preschool in September.
Please call 212.831.2770 on October 12th, 2020 or after, to schedule a parent tour where you will learn more about the preschool and admissions process.
Tours of the Preschool are scheduled in late October and November and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Parents are offered an application at the conclusion of the tour. After we have received your application, we will contact you to schedule a play date with your child. Families are notified in writing of admission status.
Alef Bet Preschool welcomes inquiries from families who are interested in learning more about our school and our admissions process. Admission is based on a student’s academic promise as well as their personal qualities and interests. You can learn more about our school philosophy and child- centered learning programs while browsing through our website.
The process is divided into three phases.
The first phase involves a tour of the preschool with the director. Your child does not accompany you at this time. We will discuss our school and address any concerns you have relative to your child’s future education. To attend a small group or a private tour, please sign up here.
The second phase of our admission process requires you to fill out an application form for your child if you have not done so, after which time we will contact you regarding setting up an appointment for your child to visit and participate in a mini-class to interact with a few other children. The director and/or school psychologist will also do an evaluation of your child to determine their acceptance. All children are met before being accepted to Alef Bet Preschool. Please click here to apply online.
The third phase is when families are notified of admission status and enrollment forms are sent out.
Each step of the process is designed to help your family become better acquainted with our program. Additionally, this process allows ample opportunities for the Alef Bet team to get to know you and your child.
To provide the individualized attention we excel at, our openings are limited; we suggest you arrange for a visit soon so your application can be considered at the earliest date.
We look forward to meeting you and your child.
